In years prior to this they could not test things to the extent that we can now. I believe the reason this shroud was left for us at this very time in history when Jesus would want to reach as many people as possible before his coming. His love for us is so intense that he has done and is doing all he can to lead people who care to look for the truth. He is the way, the truth and the light. They cannot disprove this shroud and the more they try, the only thing that happens is that they prove it's validity. And as time passes and we get more technologically savvy... they discover even more. The blood was tested in the past and then showed nothing distinct... but that has now changed.
